Support a Family in Need through the HHCP Christmas Appeal

The run-up to Christmas has begun – trees are lighting up windows and the shops are full of bargains. It’s an exciting time for some, but not for everyone.

Unfortunately, as many as 130,000 children across the UK will be homeless this Christmas, with their days spent in various forms of temporary accommodation, including refuges, B&Bs and family shelters.

This year we’re working extra hard to draw attention to the many homeless families and children in our region through our 2018 Christmas Appeal. It’s been specially designed to help children and families that we work to enjoy some semblance of a “normal” Christmas, easing the crisis and keeping the magical spirit alive for everyone.

We’re calling on people to donate toys and gifts suitable for children of all ages, which we’ll distribute to families in temporary accommodation and care centres. We want to make Christmas as happy as possible for those in crisis this festive season, so your support will go a long way.

We’re also collecting baby milk and nappies to reduce the pressure for families with very little ones, as these necessities are often hard to come by when you’re in temporary accommodation, or living to a very strict budget that many people could never imagine.

Much of our work serves these children and families in securing safe permanent homes and independent living as part of our Move On project. We also work closely with several shelters in Hull to improve the welfare of homeless families.

If you’d like to help HHCP this Christmas by making a donation, we and the families we work with will be incredibly grateful. We’ll also be going shopping for items, so you can donate money if you find this easier.

Thank you and a Merry Christmas to you all! 💚
