On Sunday 28 September, thousands of amazing people turned up with water bottles in hand to tackle Hull’s biggest racing event of the year, the Hull Marathon. Earlier in 2018 other races such as Hull 10k, Hull Half Marathon and Humber Bridge Half Marathon put a fire in the belly of the public to train for this biggie, starting and finishing at KCOM Stadium.

Previous years have seen a number of professional and amateur runners take on the streets of Hull and the Humber Bridge, and this year we were selected through the Neil Hudgell Trust as a charity to be fundraised for and have a presence at the marathon, which was absolutely fantastic.

The Neil Hudgell Trust is led by chair Jo Hudgell and in 2017 they launched its Elephant in the Room campaign, confronting social inequality that’s present throughout homelessness. They linked with us as a means of working to support homeless and marginalised people by providing emotional and practical help, as well as educating the public about the problem of social isolation and homelessness.

This year Hudgell Solicitors took on the challenge of tackling the marathon as a relay team for us. They completed it and raised £600, which is absolutely amazing! Check out their super-duper shiny medals, powered by Eon Visual Media and Brainworks.

This is the second time we have been selected as a charity for the Hull Marathon and we’re so grateful to Hudgell Solicitors for raising much-needed funds and spread the word. Finishing a marathon is a state of mind that says anything is possible, and we would love for more people to run on behalf of us in the future.

You can fundraise for Hull Homeless Community Project in a number of ways. If you’d like to get involved, give us a call on 01482 231278.
