Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

As 2019 approaches, no doubt you’ll be thinking of New Year’s resolutions such as keeping fit or starting a new hobby. So, we had an idea… Whether as an individual or a business, why not invite us to be involved?

With our targets currently being set for next year, there’s a lot of work to do to ensure we help people who are affected by or prone to homelessness, modern slavery, family crisis and mental health problems in Hull and the surrounding areas. With your vital help, this will be even more achievable. Here are a few ideas that are fun and easy to put into action:

  • Volunteering: We really value people donating their time to help us to deliver projects such as Moving On, which transitions vulnerable families into appropriate accommodation. You can help with painting and decorating, moving furniture and putting those special home comforts in place. It’s a great opportunity to lose the pounds gained from the mince pies whilst practicing your interior design skills. Another great way of giving your time is by running fundraising events. Perhaps your New Year’s resolution is to do a walk or a marathon, or you fancy holding a coffee morning in your neighbourhood? Any activity no matter how big or small can be in aid of HHCP, with every penny greatly contributing to our ongoing mission.

  • Business fundraising: If you’re a business and want to help a fabulous cause whilst boosting staff morale, why not choose us for some fundraising activities and events? You could hold a staff bake sale, casual Fridays or collect products such as toiletries, nappies, baby formula and new clothing. You could even have staff volunteering days to help paint a house or move furniture, which is also a great team-building exercise. Your support would be fantastic and a great way to bring extra positivity to the company for the new year.

  • Celebrate an occasion: Got a wedding or birthday coming up not sure what you want this Christmas? Why not ask friends and family to donate money to our website for a celebratory occasion? This is a really easy and effective method of giving something back to the community and can be done by donating to our JustGiving page or as a Facebook fundraiser that takes mere seconds to set up.

  • Christmas Appeal: As it’s the charitable season, it would be wonderful of you to help towards our Christmas Appeal. You can donate a range of things like toys, gift sets, colouring books and pencils to help us create the best Christmas possible for the vulnerable families we work with. To quote The Grinch: “Maybe Christmas, he thought, doesn’t come from a store. Maybe Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more!”

Finally, we’d like to offer a MASSIVE THANK YOU! Your support, help and kindness throughout 2018 has been incredible and we are so grateful. From everyone here at HHCP, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
